The present
Pakistan was the cradle of Sikh Religion as its founder Nanak Dev was born
there. Many historical Sikh Gurdwaras are located there. The main territory of The Sikh empire of Maharaja Ranjit Singh also belonged to the present land. During
British rule, Sikh farmers developed the canal colonies within the semi-desert
areas of West Punjab (now Pakistan) and settled there.
Contribution
of the Sikh settlers for the event of the world is gigantic. Unfortunately, the
partition of British-India in 1947 was a cruel blow to the Sikhs.

within the horrible riots besides the enormous loss of properties. The Sikhs had to
go away their homeland and suffer also the loss of the many Gurdwaras situated
therein area. Only a couple of thousand Sikhs stayed behind within the tribal
areas of NWFP.
