NARSINGA (Double Rings)
The Narsinga is a musical instrument like a horn.
A shallow bowl-shaped mouthpiece is consistent among the conical natural trumpets called Narsinga. However, the degree of curvature and length changes from region to region. In West Nepal, they are shorter and have less of a curve, are used with the karnal, and occasionally with massed damaha.
In eastern Nepal, the Gorkha musicans have a very sophisticated playing technique that employs circular breathing and a type of flutter tonguing.
It resembles the shap of half moon.This kind of musical instrument hears gradual expansion to the lower part.Curved length measures 54" (inches) and stands 43" (inches) tall.
Horn, narsinga, formed of sheets of copper, with brass rings containing rattling ball bearings. The tubular proximal end of brass contains a brass cone defining the interior bore profile, concealed behind the concave disc-shaped mouthpiece. Examples of the proximal brass tube, the cone and the disc-shaped mouthpiece were acquired, together with a sheet of copper used in manufacturing the horn and a bag of the ball bearings.
Usage:
Lip-activated, trilled between one note and the note a tone above. The instrument is played standing.
It accompanies the procession of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (the holy book of the Sikhs) in the Darbar Sahib Amritsar, Punjab, India, when it is taken from the room where it is stored every morning and evening.
It is played by blowing it by the mouth.It is blown at one end.
